Job Description
The Senior Synapse Engineer builds, optimizes, and maintains the Azure Synapse environment used to replace Alteryx workflows. The role implements pipelines, SQL transformations, orchestration, and security. They work closely with the onsite Data Modeler and Conversion Analyst to ensure end-to-end production-quality execution of migrated workloads
Key Responsibilities
- Build Synapse pipelines, SQL transformations, datasets, and linked services
- Translate Alteryx logic into Synapse SQL, PySpark, or Data Flows
- Tune performance of dedicated SQL pools (partitioning, indexing, caching)
- Implement CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub
- Configure and manage data security, RLS, access roles, and auditing
- Optimize ADLS Gen2 folder structures, file formats, and Delta/Parquet usage
