Main Responsibilities

• Safety & Navigation: compliance with safe working practices and ensuring safe navigation during watchkeeping.
• Operations: safe and efficient cargo operations, comprehensive documentation, and general planning of deck maintenance and deck department operations.
• Authority: issue and enforcement of appropriate permits to work.
• Ship Stability: management of the ship's stress and stability.
• Resource Management: environmental management, ballast management, and garbage management.
• Crew Management: overlooking crew training and development, the crew appraisal process, crew welfare, and the crew disciplinary process.
• Monitoring: monitoring fresh water supply, quality, consumption, and storage.
• Emergency Response: coordination of emergency response at the scene of the incident and safe launching of lifeboats and rescue boats.
