Job Description

Introduction

We are currently recruiting for experienced Construction Managers for a 1st tier contractor in New Zealand to manage projects consisting of Heavy Civil work, Storm water projects, wastewater treatment, Drainage, and bridges.

Duties & Responsibilities

As a Construction Manager specializing in water, reservoir, and wastewater projects in New Zealand, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating construction activities related to water infrastructure, reservoirs, and wastewater treatment facilities. You will work collaboratively with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of construction projects in compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning: Lead the development of project plans, including scheduling, resource allocation, and budgeting.
  2. Construction Oversight: Supervise and manage construction teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
  3. Quality Assurance: Ensure construction activities adhere to project specifications and quality standards, conducting inspections and addressing non-conformities.
  4. Safety Compliance: Enforce strict safety protocols and monitor adherence to health and safety regulations on the construction site.
  5. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all construction activities comply with environmental and regulatory requirements, obtaining necessary permits and approvals.
  6. Cost Control: Manage project budgets, track expenses, and work to optimize project costs.
  7. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with construction activities.
  8. Contract Management: Oversee subcontractor agreements, change orders, and dispute resolution.
  9. Client Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with clients, addressing their concerns and providing project updates.
  10. Reporting: Prepare and provide regular project progress reports and compliance documentation.
  11. Project Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project records.
  12. Team Leadership: Manage and lead project teams, providing guidance and support.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience in construction management, particularly in water, reservoir, and wastewater projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Strong project management skills and experience with large-scale construction projects.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
  • Familiarity with construction project scheduling and cost control.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Legal knowledge or understanding of construction law is a plus.
