Doctoral Researcher (Novel Photochemistry Systems for Light-Triggered Hydrogels)

Doctoral researcher will conduct PhD studies in developing novel photochemistry systems for light-triggered hydrogel systems within the context of the Finnish Research Council project. The work will take place in the Smart Photonic Materials (SPM) research group, part of the Chemistry & Advanced Materials (CAM) research cluster.

The position is situated in the MULTIMODAL team, which focuses on life‑inspired adaptive material systems that integrate multimodal sensing, actuation, adaptation, and self‑repair in soft material systems. The PhD project will involve the design, optimisation, synthesis and characterisation of low‑energy‑light‑activated photochemical systems for hydrogel cross‑linking, and exploring applications in light‑based 3D bioprinting, drug‑eluting implants and on‑demand drug release.
