Doctoral Researcher / Project Researcher, Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is recruiting a doctoral researcher or project researcher for a fixed‑term position in the project “Rubin’s theorem for subshifts”, funded by the Research Council of Finland (1.9.2026– ). The position starts no earlier than 1 September 2026, lasts two years, and may be extended until the end of the funding period.
The project combines discrete‑time dynamical systems, geometric group theory, topology, logic and computability. The doctoral candidate’s research topic will be tailored to their interests and background, for example the study of subgroups of the automorphism group of the full shift A Z (the group of one‑dimensional reversible cellular automata).
