Position Function
Reporting to the Clinic Director, the Lactation Consultant provides evidence‑based breastfeeding education, counseling, and support services for mothers, babies, and families. The role includes guiding healthcare providers and families, promoting breastfeeding practices, and working within an interdisciplinary team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and handle confidential information appropriately.
- Commit to reconciliation responsibilities per TRC and BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
- Conduct assessments and identify solutions for basic and complex breastfeeding problems.
- Provide individual and group lactation support, including education, in‑clinic visits, and follow‑up phone and email support.
- Educate healthcare providers and families on breastfeeding practices.
