Marketplace Business is responsible for operating Rakuten Ichiba, the founding business of Rakuten.
Rakuten was established in 1997, and Rakuten Ichiba, which has continued to grow to this day, embodies Rakuten's mission of empowering people and society through innovation. It has created a system that allows individuals skilled in business to easily open their own stores, transcending the limitations of traditional commercial areas, and has brought the joy of shopping to users across Japan.
Today, it has grown into one of the largest e-commerce sites in Japan, with over 50,000 stores (as of November 2024) and more than 100 million user accounts, serving a vast number of users.
