JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE Collaborates with the team members to develop and implement teaching plans and patient education materials based on national standards for patients of varying ages with diabetes, gestational diabetes, or pre-diabetes. Assists in development of educational programs for staff, support groups, students, interns and others as needed. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION Samaritan’s Nationally Accredited Diabetes Education Programs utilize the advanced knowledge and skills of their interdisciplinary team - made of RN’s and RD’s who collaborate to offer group and individual appointments for education, medication management, behavior change, as well as working with physicians to better manage their patients and families with diabetes and serving as a resource for those interested in the most current diabetes treatment strategies.
