Under the direction of the Chief APP and Neurosurgery Attendings, APP's manage patients pre and post elective, urgent and emergent spine, brain, open cerebrovascular surgery and neuro-endovascular procedures. Includes routine and emergency consultations in collaboration with the on-call attending, daily management, coordination of care, patient and family counseling, ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing as well as routine and emergent bedside procedures such as lumbar puncture, ventriculoperitoneal shunt tap, placement of ICP monitor, ventriculostomy, and lumbar drain.
