Job Description
Under the direction of the Manager of the Calgary STI Clinic and Safeworks Outreach, the Registered Nurse (RN) – Safeworks Outreach functions in an expanded scope of practice within a harm reduction model. The RN will be expected to function in an independent nursing practice, conducting health assessments, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of Sexually Transmitted and Blood Bourne Infections (STBBI). This nursing practice is directed by the AHS STBBI: Testing and Treatment Protocol, and under the direct supervision of the Calgary STI Clinic Medical Director/Medical Officer of Health. The RN will also be responsible for monitoring and interpreting laboratory results of the Safeworks Outreach clients, client counseling and education in the prevention of STBBIs, contact tracing and partner notification, and documentation in the client chart.
