Job Description

Summary

The NICHE Robotics Lab at the University of Michigan-Dearborn is seeking a CECS graduate student to support research on plant-inspired soft robotic systems. Students are paid bi-weekly at an hourly rate determined by the faculty project sponsor. The anticipated start date will begin in the fall semester. 

Responsibilities*

The project involves studying plant growth and locomotion mechanisms and translating these biological principles into novel robotic designs. The student will be responsible for mechanical design, CAD modeling, prototyping, and experimental evaluation of soft robotic systems.

The student will work closely with interdisciplinary collaborators spanning engineering, biology, and design.

Required Qualifications*

  • Current UM-Dearborn M.S. student in Mechanical Engineering or related field
