Job Brief
:We are currently seeking a Site Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day mechanical engineering operations on-site, ensuring the successful implementation of mechanical systems and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and project specifications.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Required Experience & Certificates:
At least 5-7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong background in construction site supervision, project execution, and mechanical system installations.
Certification in project management (PMP), mechanical systems, or related fields is a plus.
Required Skills:
-Solid knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, pumps, and other mechanical equipment.
-Experience with mechanical design software and tools, including AutoCAD, Revit, or other industry-specific software.
-Understanding of mechanical codes, regulations, and safety standards.
-Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, technical specifications, and installation manuals.
-Demonstrated experience managing mechanical works on-site, including coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
-Fluency in Arabic, English, and French (spoken and written) is required.
Tasks and Duties:
-Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, pumps, boilers, equipment) on-site. Ensure that all work is completed according to project specifications, quality standards, and schedule.
-Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure mechanical works meet required standards, building codes, and specifications. Address non-conformance issues as they arise and implement corrective actions.
-Coordinate and collaborate with other engineering disciplines (electrical, civil, structural) to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems on-site. Maintain clear communication with project managers, contractors, and clients.
-Provide hands-on technical support during installation and construction phases, addressing any mechanical issues and ensuring that problems are resolved quickly and efficiently.
-Enforce safety protocols and procedures on-site to ensure that mechanical works comply with safety regulations. Conduct risk assessments, and ensure that all personnel are trained in proper safety practices.
-Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including site progress reports, inspection reports, equipment logs, and any deviations from the original design. Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to senior management.
-Assist in the procurement of mechanical materials and equipment, ensuring that all items are specified, ordered, and delivered on time and in accordance with the project requirements.
-Oversee subcontractors and third-party vendors working on mechanical systems to ensure their work complies with project specifications and quality standards.
-Supervise and witness mechanical testing and commissioning processes to ensure that systems are functional, efficient, and ready for operational use.
-Proactively identify potential issues or delays in the mechanical scope of work and develop and implement effective solutions to mitigate risks and maintain project timelines.
