Communications Officer
Job Description
To support the execution of the AAS communications strategy and to build and maintain AAS reputation and brand awareness.
Key Performance Areas
Internal Stakeholder Engagements
- Support the implementation of the annual communications plan aligned with the communications strategy.
- Update and entrench AASF style guide.
- Assist with the implementation of the AASF internal stakeholder management plan.
- Edit all documents to ensure they are in line with CI guidelines.
- Conceptualise and develop internal communications, including, but not limited to, Newsletters, Monthly mail, staff announcements, email banners, desk drops, and signatures.
- Conceptualise and develop designs for internal communications collateral (branding material).
- Create and provide an oversight of AASF collateral and ensure they are in good condition.
- Procure communications collateral in line with procurement policy and CI guidelines.
- Administer AASF intranet, which includes content development, general updating, and functionality.
- Manage the AASF stakeholder and newsletter database.
- Develop and update AASF presentation templates.
External Stakeholder Engagements
Stakeholder Management
- Support the fundraising strategy through resource mobilisation.
- Respond to queries and action requests from stakeholders.
- Liaise with external stakeholders to ensure that AASF has up-to-date information.
- Maintain stakeholder database
- Source media partnerships and affiliation Programmes.
- Acquire small scale donors and mobilise resources
Media Engagement
- Secure and manage relevant media for AASF events.
- Draft Press releases as and when required.
- Manage and expand media list/ database.
- Manage and expand- awards and conferences database.
- Secure billboard and online advertising.
Digital Platforms
- Execute AASF digital strategy.
- Develop and update website content.
- Conduct monthly website audits.
- Ensure maximum uptime of the website.
- Ensure schools' websites are kept up to date.
- Develop a social media budget.
- Develop and update content on all digital platforms.
- Manage engagements and content on all digital platforms.
- Develop campaigns and videos for all AASF social media.
- Develop and submit AASF social media Bi-monthly reports.
Annual Reports
- Support the development of annual report development from beginning to end.
- Audiovisual: Develop video concepts and content.
- Source service providers and monitor the development of the final product.
Essay Competition
- Develop and implement an annual strategy for the competition.
- Develop and manage budget.
- Convene a panel of judges to adjudicate the competition.
- Ensure timely payment of the winners.
Events and Campaigns
- Provide support on all AASF events and campaigns.
- Produce marketing and communications material and content for events and campaigns.
- Take pictures and videos at events and ensure the media library is updated.
International Expansion
- Develop and edit internal and external marketing and communications collateral for the UK entity.
- Support the UK entity events.
- Update website content.
- Conduct monthly website audits.
- Ensure maximum uptime of the website.
Risk Management
- Identify, manage, and mitigate risks.
- Ensure indemnity forms are signed and filled in line with AASF requirements.
Reporting and Administration
- Manage the info-account, respond and/or redirect to relevant parties.
- Compile social media reports.
Education, Skills, and Experience
- B Degree or National Diploma in Marketing, Communications or related qualification
- Experience in a Marketing and Communications Department
- Design and video editing experience
- Writing experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience
- Driver's License
- Communications knowledge and experience
- Microsoft Office
- Ability to interact and influence at all levels
