Position Overview:

The MedicalAffairsLeadforSwitzerland & Austriaisaccountablefor developing and executingtheMedical Affairs strategyforthe2countries.They lead the creation and execution ofthecountry medical plansin alignment with the businessobjectivesof theInsulet’saffiliate.Themedical plansencompassvalue-generating activities onmedicaleducation,evidence generation and dissemination, HCP and KOL engagement, andinternalknowledge and insights translation.The Medical AffairsSr.Managerleads, alignswithandinfluencesa number ofcross-functional partners(commercial, marketing, market access, regulatory, sales excellence)inAustria & Switzerlandto ensure proper execution of themedical plans.

TheMedical AffairsSr.Manageris akeymember of theDACHleadership team. Theywork closely withInsulet’saffiliate cross-functionalteamto ensure the information, education, and research needs of HCPs are met and to ensure scientific and technical training needs of commercial and advocacy organizations areidentifiedand met.

One of theprioritiesfor this individual will bekey opinion leader (KOL) engagementand local evidence generation. This includes establishing, fostering,cultivatingandmaintainingrelationships with KOLs as a conduit foraccurateand updated clinical,scientificand medical information between KOLs and the company.The person will also ensure local evidence is being generated, fulfilling local needs and in alignment with the global evidence generation strategy.

This role works closely with Global andotherin-country Medical Affairscolleagues to lead the development of robustcountrylaunch plansfor newproducts,andexecutesthem with excellence.Theywill have andmaintainan in-depth understanding of diabetes, the currentand futuretreatment landscapealong withongoing clinicalresearchwith a focus on the diabetes device market.

This individual has leadership responsibilities to ensure the execution of all above tasks.They will be responsible to lead a team in the development and successful execution of medical strategies and tactics that enhances regulatory approval, customeraccessand adoption ofOmnipodproducts in the region.

Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise country and regional Medical Affairs staff focused on delivering the medicalobjectivesfor the region by providing direction, guidance and oversight of assigned projects and accountabilities

  • Develop and lead the execution of the Medical Affairs strategy at a countryand regionallevelthrough cross-functional collaboration and influence– supporting efficient go-to-market plansforSwitzerland & Austria

  • Lead,establishand execute the local medical education plans forSwitzerland & Austria:educate HCP with online/in-personblended offerings (on-demand, webinars, Peer-to-Peer training),delivermedicaleducation at congresses and symposiums,support product training with generation and delivery of medical content

  • Inform & strategize evidence generation plans, in answer tofulfilmarket access, regulatory and marketing needs

  • Support the local execution ofInsulet-sponsored and Investigator-Initiated trials

  • Disseminate evidencewithin local markets

  • Identifyand engage with HCP to inform and seek advice on the company’s solutions, through the execution of advisoryboards,clinical activity,scientificExchangeandeducational Events

  • Establish andmaintaincredible peer-to-peer scientific relationships with nationaland regionalKOLs

  • Build confidence and advocacy among key external influencers (KOLs)

  • Build and share knowledge with internal and external stakeholdersregardingthe use and benefits of current and futureInsuletproducts

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional partners

  • Translate clinical data into scientifically sound, tangible insights and claims

  • Review and approveexternally-facingmaterials for scientific and medical accuracy

  • Review scientific and medical content forexternally-facingcontent, using the Veeva system

  • Answer HCP medical queries

  • Assistwith sales events such as pump clinics, pump support groups, info sessions, in-the-office educational events, patient info nights, advocacyevents,etc.

  • Maintain a thorough and detailed working knowledge of the organization and its products, current scientificresearchand publications

  • Education and Experience:

  • MD, PharmD, PhD or MS in life scienceor an equivalent

  • Strong and relevantor equivalentMedical Affairs experience in diabeteswithin thepharmaceutical or medical device industry

  • In-depth understanding of the diabetes disease state, the current/future treatment landscape, and ongoing clinical trials/research

  • Understanding of thecountrymedical practice and clinical decision-makingregardingpatient care for diabetes

  • Skills/Competencies:

  • Proven leader in Medical Affairs including developing and leading the implementation of medical strategy. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skillsin bothGermanandEnglish

  • Knowledge of French language is considered a plus

  • Broad understanding of the international commercial and regulatory environment for medical devices

  • Strong scientific acumen and attention to detail

  • Combined strategic thinking and execution skills

  • Demonstrated ability to integrate, lead and influencein a challenging cross-functionalenvironment.

  • High ethical standards which apply to interactions with HCPs, payers, and industry representatives

  • This role will involve frequent travel,approximately30-40%mainlyintheDACHregionand within international region on occasions (conferences,medical education events,internal meetings).
