is a South African‑run digital marketing agency serving primarily US‑based clients. The agency focuses on performance‑driven marketing, SEO, and creative execution, and is growing quickly with a strong emphasis on leveraging AI and evolving search technologies in marketing.
Role overview
This is a contractor position for a South Africa–based creative and digital all‑rounder who can support an American marketing agency with social media ad design, website design support, and day‑to‑day marketing admin. The ideal person is proactive, innovative, comfortable experimenting with new AI‑driven tools and strategies, and eager to grow as the business grows.
You will work directly with the founder (also South African) and help execute campaigns and assets for clients across multiple industries.
Key responsibilities
- Design compelling static and simple animated creatives for social media ads (Meta, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.) aligned with client brand guidelines.
- Create and adapt website designs (e.g., wireframes, landing pages, section layouts) that balance aesthetics with conversion and usability.
- Repurpose and resize creative assets for different platforms and formats.
- Support implementation of brand‑consistent visuals in website builders or CMS platforms (e.g., Wix, WordPress, Webflow, or similar), where needed.
- Explore and test new AI and search‑driven tools, features, and workflows that can improve creative output and campaign performance, and bring new ideas to the founder regularly.
- Assist with basic marketing admin tasks such as:
- Organizing creative assets and project folders
- Updating simple tracking sheets and status docs
- Preparing simple client‑facing decks or visuals based on templates
- Collaborate in planning content and creative concepts for campaigns, helping turn strategy into tangible, high‑quality assets.
Requirements
- Based in South Africa, with reliable internet and the ability to work largely remotely for a US‑facing agency.
- Strong design skills with a portfolio showing:
- Social media ad creatives
- Website or landing page layouts
- Clear understanding of typography, color, and layout
- Proficiency in modern design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva or similar).
- Comfort working with website design and implementation (nice‑to‑have: experience in WordPress / Webflow / Wix similar platforms).
- Curiosity about AI, modern search, and how marketing is changing; willingness to learn, experiment, and share new ideas.
- Good written English and attention to detail for briefs, file names, and basic documentation.
- Self‑starter mindset: able to manage time, meet deadlines, and take initiative with limited hand‑holding.
Nice‑to‑have skills
- Basic knowledge of digital marketing, SEO, and paid social advertising (ad formats, hooks, best practices).
- Experience designing for email templates, newsletters or simple slide decks.
- Familiarity with simple analytics views (e.g., reading performance summaries to inform creative tweaks).
Contract terms and growth
- Contractor / freelance engagement, with hours and retainer to be agreed based on experience and availability.
- Workload and compensation will grow as the agency and client base expand, with opportunities to take on more responsibility and higher‑value work overtime.
- Flexible, remote‑first working arrangement, with overlap required for check‑ins with the founder and, at times, US‑based client work hours.
