Job Description
We are seeking a Portfolio Manager to lead the Black Swan Summit Series , GFTN’s global foresight convening platform across India, Australia, Armenia and Uzbekistan that explores how innovation through disruption can build more resilient economies and inclusive societies. By bringing together policymakers, technologists and investors, the Summit translates artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, distributed ledger technology (DLT) and green infrastructure into practical strategies for growth, resilience and sustainability.
This role is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned project and events leader to take the next step to evolve into a portfolio manager overseeing multiple products across GFTN’s forums, advisory and capital offerings. You will be responsible for creating cross-product synergies, standardising processes and delivery models, and driving commercial performance across the portfolio. In this role, you will operate with an entrepreneurial mindset, continually identifying opportunities to scale impact, strengthen integration and enhance profitability, helping shape the future of GFTN’s global financial innovation platform.
Strategic Ownership & Portfolio Leadership
- Lead the strategy, design, and long-term roadmap for the Black Swan Summit Series, ensuring thematic relevance, intellectual depth, and global resonance.
- Oversee portfolio planning, including budgeting, revenue modelling, and P&L management across multiple summits and regional editions.
- Define and refine the Summit’s value proposition, ensuring it remains a differentiated convening space for strategic foresight and high-impact dialogue.
- Oversee go-to-market planning to ensure strong audience acquisition, partner engagement, and commercial performance.
- Establish governance protocols, secure approvals, and align with GFTN’s leadership and advisory ecosystem.
- Work with and build a new pipeline of ecosystem stakeholders around artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, distributed ledger technology (DLT) and green infrastructure in the selected markets.
- Own and deliver commercial aspects of the Black Swan portfolio.
- Define and track portfolio KPIs, using performance insights to refine future editions and drive continuous improvement.
Programme Development
- Shape the Summit’s intellectual agenda in partnership with global experts, think tanks, policy institutions, and academic partners.
- Identify and engage high-profile participants including strategists, policymakers, technologists, economists, and cross-sector leaders to contribute to the dialogues.
- Ensure the Summit delivers actionable insights, strategic frameworks, and post-summit outputs for GFTN stakeholders.
- Champion innovation in programme formats, partnership models, and engagement mechanisms to enhance the Summit’s proposition.
Execution Excellence & Risk Management
- Lead cross-functional delivery teams across content, government relations, research, marketing, operations, partner fulfilment, and speaker management.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans across multiple editions of the Summit.
- Anticipate risk scenarios (operational, reputational, geopolitical) and implement mitigation strategies to uphold Summit integrity and impact.
- Ensure exceptional execution standards aligned with the Black Swan Series’ premium positioning.
Reporting, Partnerships & External Relations
- Provide regular leadership updates on portfolio progress, risks, commercial performance, and strategic considerations.
- Lead board reporting for the Black Swan Summit Series.
- Manage high-value external relationships with institutional partners, think tanks, sponsors, and senior policymakers globally.
- Build long‑term partnerships that enhance the Summit’s intellectual capital, geographical reach, and financial sustainability.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in portfolio management, strategy, scenario planning, or leading complex programmes across public, private, or research institutions.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic foresight, risk scenario design, or convenings involving senior global stakeholders.
- Strong track record managing high‑stakes projects across multiple regions or institutions.
- Exceptional analytical and critical‑thinking skills with the ability to translate complex global risks into structured, meaningful dialogues.
- Outstanding stakeholder engagement skills, including working with C‑suite, policymakers, academics, and international organisations.
- Strong communication, writing, and facilitation capabilities, with the ability to synthesise diverse viewpoints into coherent narratives.
- Experience managing budgets, revenue models, and long‑range programmes.
- A global perspective, with experience working across cultures and geopolitical contexts, is highly desirable.
