The organization provides a combination of knowledge, in partnership with regenerative farming organizations and local extension officers, and funding to support farmers. Successfully transitioned farms earn EcoCert certification, promoting sustainable farming practices. StopTheDesert is dedicated to combating environmental challenges and fostering resilient agricultural systems to benefit communities worldwide.

Role Description

This is a volunteer, remote role for a Volunteer Engagement Helper at StopTheDesert. In this role, you will assist in recruiting, onboarding, and managing volunteers. Key responsibilities include organizing volunteer engagement activities, maintaining communication with volunteers, and supporting strategic planning for volunteer initiatives. You will collaborate with team members to ensure a positive volunteer experience while contributing to the organization's mission to combat desertification.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in volunteer management, engagement strategies, and recruitment skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple volunteer-related tasks efficiently
  • Experience or interest in nonprofit work, sustainability, or environmental causes is a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a remote setting and familiarity with remote collaboration tools
  • Any prior experience in event planning or coordination will be beneficial
  • Availability 3-5 hours per week
