Gig Engineer
is seeking an experienced
Process Engineer
on behalf of its client in the banking sector. The Process Engineer leads end-to-end optimisation, redesign, automation, and engineering of business processes across the bank.
Role Overview
This role is central to enabling digital transformation, operational excellence, customer experience improvements, and large-scale efficiency initiatives. The ideal candidate has strong technical process engineering skills, banking domain expertise, and the ability to work across business and technology environments.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Process Engineering
- Lead the design of
To-Be
processes using engineering best practices. - Conduct complex process analysis, including throughput, cycle time, waste identification, and control impact.
- Identify automation opportunities (RPA, BPM workflow, API-based integrations).
- Partner with architecture, data, and digital teams to define future-state operating models.
Continuous Improvement & Optimisation
- Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and process optimisation methodologies to reduce waste and inefficiencies.
- Lead Kaizen workshops, root-cause analysis sessions, and operational deep dives.
- Define measurable improvements (KPIs, SLA improvements, cost reduction metrics).
Digital Transformation Delivery
- Collaborate with digital teams to engineer automated workflows, self-service processes, and straight-through processing.
- Support rollout of workflow engines, case management systems, and robotics.
- Ensure alignment with technology strategy, enterprise architecture, and SDLC.
Governance, Control & Quality
- Assess risk and control gaps within processes and implement improvements.
- Ensure documentation meets audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and govern the process repository across the business.
Project Leadership
- Lead medium to large process improvement or re-engineering projects.
- Provide direction to Process Analysts and support cross-functional delivery teams.
- Prepare business cases and benefit tracking for proposed improvements.
Required Skills & Competencies (Hard Requirements)
Technical Skills
- Advanced process mapping (BPMN, EPC, detailed workflow engineering).
- Strong proficiency in Visio, ARIS, Bizagi, or Signavio.
- Understanding of
system integration
, APIs, data flows, and technical constraints. - Strong knowledge of banking operational processes, risk, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with automation tools (e.g., UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Appian, Pega).
Analytical & Engineering Skills
- Lean or Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or higher preferred).
- Ability to analyse data sets to justify process improvements and quantify benefits.
- Ability to model future-state processes based on customer journeys and digital flows.
Soft Skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders, challenge assumptions, and drive consensus.
- Skilled workshop facilitator (process design, RCA, journey mapping).
- Strong documentation, planning, and organisational capability.
Nice-to-Have
- Understanding of cloud platforms and modern integration patterns.
- Exposure to business architecture, operating model design, or service blueprinting.
- Power BI or advanced data analytics skills.
- Experience in Agile project environments (Scrum, SAFe).
- Knowledge of process mining tools (Celonis, UiPath Process Mining, Disco).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Process Management, Information Systems, or related field.
- 3–7 years' experience in process engineering within banking or financial services.
- Lean Six Sigma certification strongly preferred.
