The University of Ghana hereby, invites applications from suitably qualified employees of the University of Ghana, for appointment as Project Manager, Physical Development, Planning and Transport Division, Physical Development and Municipal Services Directorate (PDMSD)
POSITION: Project Manager
REPORTING TO: Director, Physical Development and Municipal Services Directorate (PDMSD)
JOB ROLE
• The Project Manager will oversee, coordinate, and implement capital development projects on-campus and off-campus of the University of Ghana, ensuring compliance with planning regulations, sustainability practices, and institutional objectives.
• The role requires expertise in project management, construction supervision, budgeting, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Manager shall be responsible for:
• Project Planning and Execution
• Project Execution and Oversight
• Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
• Regulatory Compliance and Sustainability
• Financial Management and Resource Mobilization
• Risk Management and Quality Control
Qualification Required & Experience
The applicant must have:
• A Bachelor’s degree in the built environment or a related field.
• A Master’s degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
• Professional certification in Project Management (PMI-PMP, PRINCE2, IPMP-GH, IET-GH, GHIE OR SIX SIGMA).
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in project management and construction supervision.
• At least 5 years of experience in a project team within a university or similar institution.
Required abilities and skills:
• Demonstrated experience in managing budgets, multi-disciplinary teams, and stakeholder environments.
• Proficiency in project management software Microsoft Project, Primavera P6).
• Knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit applications is an advantage.
• Knowledge of contract administration and procurement procedures.
• Strong negotiation, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Applicants must have served a minimum of two years in a Senior Staff role at the University of Ghana, and must be able to serve a minimum of 4 years in the role before reaching the mandatory retirement age of years.
