This role is hybrid based out of our Mexico City office
embecta is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our LATAM finance team. This is a key position for an experienced, ambitious finance professional who is motivated to contribute to setting up the LATAM finance function as embecta builds out is presence in the region. Thie position will deal with a broad range of accounting and controlling topics across various countries. Must have a willingness to deal with both strategic issues as well as a hands-on approach to daily transactional items. Strong communication and cultural sensitivity are required in order to coordinate the activities of outsourced services and collaborate with colleagues in Costa Rica, India, US and Europe. As a valuable resource to the organization, the incumbent is pro-active and brings strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
**Essential Functions:**
-Execute the accounting processes for several entities following US GAAP. This includes (but is not limited to)
o Coordinate correct accounting of international commercial and other activities (revenue, gross to net, cost accounting, receivables)
o Ensure GL accuracy and completeness (Prepare detailed journal entries and account analyses)
o Manage the monthly financial close process, including Following month end control checklist ensuring all transactions are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, performing account balance reconciliations and reporting preparation.
-Coordinate the accounting process for the LATAM entities jointly with embecta’s 3rd party service providers,
· Execute and coordinate timely, accurate and complete accounting and settlement of all intercompany transactions.
· Execute and coordinate manual payments.
· Work with external service providers with VAT declarations. Direct tax and other local reporting. Assist with compilation of information for preparation of tax returns.
· Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts following local GAAP for several LATAM entities.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely completion of all financial reporting requirements
· Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
· Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices.
· Assist with SOX compliance and management of material control audits.
· Partner with global functional businesses, FP&A to identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
-Miscellaneous projects as they arise.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**
-Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (CPA and/or MBA preferred)
-Minimum 6 years' experience in Finance and Accounting
-Strong US and local GAAP knowledge
-SOX experience is required
-Demonstrated experience with SAP/S4 Hana; strong proficiency in Excel
-Willingness to execute daily transactional accounting tasks
-Fluency in English is required (spoken/written)
-Demonstrated ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail
-Strong collaboration and demonstrated ability to establish relationships and build rapport with all stakeholders, and influence at all levels of management.
-Must be able to effectively partner with functions in region and across organization.
