As a System Development Engineer focused on ISP tuning and Image Quality validation, you will work with firmware developers, scientists and stakeholders to optimize sensor‑to‑color image pipelines. Your work will directly impact millions of devices, ensuring stunning colors and great detail across day and night conditions.
Key job responsibilities
- Optimize ISP parameters to deliver the best possible image across diverse lighting conditions and scenarios.
- Develop new tuning methodologies, automated validation frameworks, and comprehensive test protocols.
- Implement automated testing and validate improvements through objective metrics and subjective assessments.
- Collaborate with imaging experts to root‑cause quality issues and document methodologies for future products.
About The Team
On site in Tampere, the team focuses on cameras and peripherals, working with both local and Cambridge-based experts to advance the Ring camera experience.
Basic Qualifications
- MSc, BSc, or equivalent.
- Deep understanding of ISP algorithms and image processing pipelines.
- Experience with ISP tuning for camera systems (exposure, white balance, color correction, noise reduction, sharpening).
- Experience in image quality validation and testing methodologies.
- Proficiency with objective image quality metrics (SNR, MTF, color accuracy, dynamic range).
- Strong analytical skills using Python or MATLAB for data analysis and visualization.
- Experience with subjective image quality assessment and test protocol development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automated image quality testing frameworks and tools.
- Knowledge of camera control algorithms (AE, AWB, AF).
- Familiarity with industry‑standard image quality test charts and measurement equipment.
- Experience working with factory manufacturing and production validation.
- Hardware validation and debugging experience.
- Understanding of sensor characteristics and raw image processing.
- Experience with statistical analysis and design of experiments (DOE).
